The biggest thing that helps me feel less stressed in our homeschool is being prepared. Summer is the perfect time to get ourselves and our house ready for the new school year. It’s also the perfect time to debrief how last year went, and what might need to change to make our days and weeks more manageable and enjoyable. Here are six tips to help you have a smooth homeschool year.

Use summer to prepare
Two things I talk about in this video:
- Debrief last year. Look at how the year went and what needs to change so this year is more manageable and enjoyable.
- Get yourself and your house ready. Being prepared is what keeps my stress down once school starts.
One viewer said the reminder to actually fill in the kids’ routines and prepare them for the school day was just what she needed. Another said her family also eases into the school year over three weeks, like we do. I share how we ease in, step by step, in how to ease back into the new school year.

Routines are very helpful. Having a predictable flow is key for us. We also ease in to our school year over a three week period like you do.
This will be our fourth year homeschooling and I’ll have a 3rd grade daughter and a 1 year old son. We have kept our morning time a few times a week during Summer so that we don’t lose our entire schedule, but it’s not every single day like the school year. 😊
Staying tuned for next weeks video!
