Quick Pamper Routine for Moms! (No Bathtub Required )

Treat yo’ self! (Any Parks and Rec fans here?) A few days a week, if I can carve out an extra 20 minutes after my shower, I do a little at-home spa for myself. It’s super simple, it can be done even quicker if you need, and it’s been so relaxing and rejuvenating.

What you’ll get from this post

  • How I set a relaxing mood in a couple of minutes
  • My step-by-step after-shower moisturizing routine
  • The shea butter and sock trick for rough feet
  • Why I’ve added a sauna tent a few times a week
  • Why moms should make time for this

Step 1: Set the mood

After I get out of the shower, I turn on a relaxing massage playlist on Spotify to set the tone. Then I light a candle and turn off the bright lights.

Step 2: Face lotion

I put my face lotion on first to lock in the moisture.

Step 3: Start with your feet

Next I moisturize my whole body, starting with my feet. Normally I lay my robe down and sit on it (a towel works too).

  1. Rub shea butter onto your rough feet, and lather it on really thick.
  2. Put socks on right away to lock in that moisture.

Step 4: Lotion everywhere else

Then I lotion the rest of my body. I really love this spearmint lotion from Bath and Body Works. It has that refreshing spa smell, if you know what I mean.

Bonus: the sauna tent

If I can plan for 20 more minutes before my shower, I get in our sauna tent and listen to a deep-thinking audiobook or a podcast, like Jordan Peterson. I haven’t quite worked it into my normal routine yet, but I’m trying to get in there one to three times a week. It’s such a calming break.

My husband and I have been trying to do more for our health and wellness lately. Sauna use has been linked to a lower risk of heart attack, stroke and dementia, better circulation and sweating out toxins, and the hot, moist air may boost collagen in your skin. And it’s a wonderful stress reliever. The relaxation you feel after all this is just wonderful.

Why you should make time for this

You might be thinking, “Must be nice to have time for that.” But really, we should all be making time for this. Relaxing is so important for lowering stress, and that matters for our mental and physical health. It all connects.

It’s especially good for homeschooling moms. We need to be in our best mental place when we’re taking care of and teaching our kids every day. So I highly encourage you to take the time to treat yourself, and really take care of yourself.
